Demolition of the former Kirkland’s Care Home in Kirkby-in-Ashfield

by | May 11, 2020 | Our Projects

We have started works to demolish the former Kirkland’s Care Home in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. It had been derelict since 2016, after the opening of the nearby Poppy Fields Extra Care Scheme.

We were initially unsure if the project would start due to COVID-19; however, following the guidance set by the UK Government and Public Health England we started the works whilst following strict guidelines and control measures, ensuring that our site teams are protected as far as is reasonably practical from this terrible virus whilst still at work.

So far, the entire structure has been stripped out internally, one single-storey structure to the right of the site has been demolished and currently 50% of the licensed asbestos removal works are complete.

Trees to the site have been fenced off to protect them from our works and some bird boxes are being delivered to site for us to erect in pertinent locations.
