Creating Space for Construction Students at West Notts College

We’re delighted to have completed the careful demolition of the former fermentation sheds at West Nottinghamshire College’s Old Brewery campus in Mansfield.

Over the course of two months, our team dismantled the old structures, once home to traditional Yorkshire Square fermenting vessels, to make way for nearly 10,000 sq. ft of new space. This will support construction training, storage, and staff parking, helping the college grow its already impressive facilities.

The project will directly benefit construction students and apprentices, providing more room for hands-on learning in brickwork, carpentry, joinery, and plastering, and supporting women in construction programmes too.
We also made sure sustainability was front and centre:

• All steel and timber were removed for recycling
• Around 20% of the original bricks were saved for use in student training
• The rest was crushed on-site to create 6F2 aggregate, forming the new base
