Former Herbert Morris Building: A Respectful Farewell
In the last few months of 2025, and after years of standing derelict and vacant, the former Herbert Morris building in Loughborough was carefully dismantled to make way for affordable housing, bringing new life to a long-underused site.

The building has been a familiar landmark, and its history is not forgotten. That’s why the demolition was carried out with care, safety, and respect for the site’s legacy.

Our works included:

– Safe removal of asbestos-containing materials and soft strip-out
– Protective scaffolding along the canal and left flank of the structure
– Rebuilding the canal-side wall to match the existing in-situ structure
– Removal of slabs, foundations, and the cantilevered section (following specialist cleaning of pigeon guano that had built up)
– Responsible recycling of all materials at licensed facilities

The new development will provide much-needed affordable homes, helping meet local demand and offering fresh opportunities for residents.
