Green Bridge Lift-Out: A Major Milestone for Long Eaton
A major milestone for Long Eaton was achieved earlier this week as the old No. 5 footbridge – the much loved Green Bridge, was lifted out in a precision crane operation over the Erewash Canal.
Despite recent heavy rainfall and flooding at West Park, the project stayed firmly on track thanks to some very proactive planning and strong partnership working! 
Working alongside Stepnell, Erewash Borough Council, the Canal & River Trust, and McGovern Crane Hire, our team delivered a safe, efficient removal with minimal disruption to residents and businesses.
The lift itself was a serious piece of engineering:
• Liebherr Construction LTM1250 5.1
• 30.3m boom
• 88 tonnes of counterweight
• 28 tonne bridge removed in one controlled lift
Meticulous prep, expert engineering and seamless collaboration made it possible, all aligned with a tight canal and towpath closure window.
